Northern Gila County Historical Society & Museum

The Northern Gila County Historical Society’s mission is to acquire and preserve artifacts and writings relating to the history and culture of Northern Gila County for exhibit and research. Many of the Gila County resources previously held by NGCGS now reside at the Historical Society Museum located at 700 S Green Valley Parkway, Payson, AZ 85541, USA. Payson Public Library

The Payson Public Library, located at 328 N. McLane Rd., provides free access to online genealogy and historical databases, including Ancestry, Gale, and EBSCO, which you can use with your library card.

Internet Archive

The Internet Archive is a non-profit searchable online library of millions of free texts, movies, software, music, websites, and more.

Payson, AZ Family Search Center

The Payson Arizona Family Search Center is open to the public and offers access to exclusive records and complimentary access to technology. Staff are trained to help you research and make family discoveries. The Payson Center is located at 913 S Ponderosa St, Payson, AZ 85541-5543.

Attend one of our meetings and learn how to grow your family tree. We have kind, knowledgeable members who can help you begin or continue the search for your roots.

Our members have assisted:

  • authors to find information for books about local history;

  • out-of-state requestors with copies of newspaper articles;

  • local students prove Native American or Pioneer ancestry to qualify for scholarships;

  • people in locating parents, other family members, and heirs to estates;

  • individuals in researching inherited illnesses in their medical history;

  • and responded to many requests for information about people who lived here in the past.
